Me: Richard graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 2003, continuing his studies with Mario Caroli and Claire Gentilhomme in Strasbourg with support from the Dewar Trust, where he received "Diplome de Specialisation avec unanimite du jury".
Under the auspices of the Park Lane Group he gave his London debut in 2005 to critical acclaim and has since established himself as one of the leading interpreters of new music in his generation, giving broadcasts with Radio France, WDR Cologne and Swedish Radio.
His activity as a soloist, chamber musician and lecturer has brought him into contact with composers such as Ferneyhough, Dillon, Sciarrino, Saariaho, Lachenmann and musicians such as Emilio Pomarico, Enno Poppe, Stefan Asbury, Pierre-Yves Artaud and Roberto Fabbriciani. As a chamber musician he is regularly invited to perform with musikFabrik Cologne and KammarensembleN, as well as being a member of SMASH and C.C.P. Above all he is dedicated to furthering the expressive range of his instrument and collaborating with composers to develop new repertoire. Richard holds a visiting lectureship at the University of Aberdeen.
